The official website of the Kaijuu 8-gou (Kaiju No. 8) television anime announced a compilation movie and a special episode titled Hoshina no Kyuujitsu (Hoshina’s Day Off) on Monday. The compilation movie and special episode is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters in 2025, and the second season is also scheduled to air that year.

The anime series by Production I.G, adapting Naoya Matsumoto’s action sci-fi manga, aired in Spring 2024. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime with subtitles and dubbed it in multiple languages. The second season was announced on June 29.

Shounen Jump+ began serializing the manga in July 2020. Shueisha published the 13th volume on July 4. Kaijuu 8-gou has a cumulative 15 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in February 2021 and released the tenth volume on June 4. Shueisha’s Manga Plus platform also simulpublishes it in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Thai, Indonesian, Russian, and French.
