Mononoke: Karakasa Sequel in Development [Update 7/28]
Voice actor Hiroshi Kamiya, who plays the lead character Kusuriuri (Medicine Seller) in the movie, mentioned that the recording for the sequel will begin on Sunday.
Kenji Nakamura (Kuuchuu Buranko) returned to direct the movie at EOTA. Yuuichi Takahashi (Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song) designed the characters and Taku Iwasaki (Bungou Stray Dogs) composed the music. The movie commemorates the original anime series’ 15th anniversary.
Mononoke, a spin-off of the 2006 anthology Ayakashi: Japanese Classic Horror, aired in 12 episodes on Fuji TV’s noitaminA programming block in Summer 2007. Nakamura directed the fantasy horror series at Toei Animation, with Takashi Hashimoto (C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control) serving as the character designer and chief animation director.
