"Undead Unluck" Sequel Anime Special Set to Premiere in Winter 2025

The official website of the Undead Unluck television anime announced a sequel anime special on Thursday, revealing one additional staff, a teaser promo and a teaser visual (pictured). The anime special is scheduled to run for one hour in Winter 2025.

Mika Yamamoto (Tiger & Bunny 2) is joining the staff as a chief animation director. The first season’s main cast are reprising their roles.

Yuki Yase (Enen no Shouboutai) is returning to direct anime special at David Production. Gakuto Haishima (Enen no Shouboutai) is handling the series composition, and Hideyuki Morioka (Kizumonogatari I: Tekketsu-hen) is designing the characters. Kenichiro Suehiro (Isekai Suicide Squad) is composing the music.

Produced by David Production, the 24-episode first season aired between Fall 2023 and Winter 2024. Disney+ streamed the anime with English subtitles.

Undead Unluck adapts Yoshifumi Tozuka’s action comedy manga, which originally began as a one-shot in Weekly Shounen Jump in January 2019. The manga began regular serialization in the magazine the following January. The 21st volume went on sale on May 2, with the 22nd volume scheduled for an August 2 release.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in October 2020. The 16th volume is went on sale on July 16.

Synopsis
With the conclusion of her favorite romance manga, Fuuko Izumo is ready to end her life of misery and loneliness having long accepted her fate of never being able to experience passionate love like fictional characters. Cursed with “unluck,” anyone Fuuko touches is in grave danger of experiencing unimaginable calamity.

While the possibility of imminent danger would have most sane people run in the opposite direction, Undead has other ideas. He is an immortal being with superhuman regenerative powers desperately seeking death, which has always eluded him. When their paths finally cross, Undead sees an opportunity to finally end his suffering by using Fuuko’s unluck.
